Now What? Guide for Authors Event with Susan Helene Gottfried

So you’ve written a book! Congratulations! Finishing a book can feel like a large weight off your shoulder, but the truth is your writing journey is just beginning.

Join Blythe Books and local author and editor Susan Helene Gottfried as we tackle different post-story problems that will grow you and your brand and get your book out there to more people. Each quarter we will meet to look at different aspects of running your author business with topics such as building a brand, small business concerns, marketing in today’s world, selling your book, the mechanics to getting it done, and more.

April’s Topic: Starting a Business

In this meeting we will look at the ins and outs of starting your own business, and the options you have as an indie author. While not the most exciting of topics, it is an important (and often overlooked) part of building your Writing Brand

Cost: This class is free to attend. Space is limited to provide the best learning environment as possible.

Additional Resources: Many of you will have additional questions about building your brand that are specific to you and your books. Due to the scope of the class, some of these questions might not be relevant to the class as a whole and won’t be addressed in class. If you’d like to sit down one-on-one with Susan after the class to dive into your brand needs specifically, consultation spots will be available to book on a first-come-first-served basis. Each spot will be 20 minutes long and will allow you to break out your own questions and get professional feedback.

Drop Off Event at Blythe Books

Drop Off Event at Blythe Books

Our semi-annual book drop off event is back! Help us stock our shelves with books you no longer have need for in your own personal collection.

This event runs all day Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 8 at our store. Drop off books to sell that weekend and earn an extra bonus on any books we can accept from you. There is no limit to the number of books you can bring in, so plan accordingly to do some spring cleaning.

Our inventory needs change daily, but here are some rules to consider when deciding what books to bring in:

  • We generally are looking for books published from 2016 to present day. Exceptions are made sometimes, but the newer your book is, the better the chance we will be able to buy it from you.

  • Books should be in good or very good condition

  • We prefer to buy complete series whenever possible. Not a hard and fast rule.

  • We don’t have much room in our inventory currently for coffee table books, cookbooks, or travel books. We take these on a very limited basis.

This Drop Off event we are offering a double bonus payment on any of our “hard-to-find” genres of books: this includes sci-fi, adult horror, and graphic novels

For any additional questions about our book buying process, please see our Sell Your Books page on our site

Neurographics and Watercolor – Meditative Drawing Workshop by Elisabeth Ridenour
Mar
1

Neurographics and Watercolor – Meditative Drawing Workshop by Elisabeth Ridenour

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces neurographics, a meditative drawing practice, combined with watercolor painting. The process uses flowing lines and rounded intersections to create layered, abstract compositions that resemble neural pathways and encourage mindful focus.

Students begin by creating an abstract watercolor background using traditional or powdered watercolors (or both), learning simple techniques to allow color to flow naturally. Once the background is dry, participants are guided through a gentle neurographic drawing approach using continuous lines and rounded connections to build their composition.

The emphasis of this class is on slowing down, releasing perfection, and enjoying the creative process. The combination of watercolor and intuitive linework offers a calming, grounding experience while resulting in a unique abstract artwork to take home.

No prior drawing or watercolor experience is required. All materials are included.

Space is limited for this event, so be sure to book your spot soon for this art session.
